Recap

First of all thanks for everyone's comments and support in my ranting last post. It's nice to know there are people out there who care about my worries and frustrations and will lend a hand of encouragement when I need it most. I really appreciate it.

Since it feels like something is missing if I don't have a new post up every few d
ays I thought I'd give a quick recap of the last few days' events. Oh and before I forget, I have a new blog - My 365 Project. I stole the idea from my friend Kami but the idea is to take a picture everyday for a year. I thought it sounded fun to record the everyday happenings in my life and I'm secretly hoping it either helps my photo taking skills or convinces me to buy a really nice camera. Check it out!

Thursday night my friend Libbey invited me to a girls night out. Despite the rain, we went ice skating at the Gallivan Plaza in Downtown SLC. The rain actually worked out to our advantage because there was only a handful of skaters at the rink and it made the ice a bit slushy. Now all you pro skaters out there are probably thinking why on earth would slushy ice be a good thing. Well, I'm horrible at ice skating so any extra pull helps me stay up longer. Unbelievable but I didn't fall once (e
xcept for the fake falling picture at the end of the night)! I doubt Jeff believes the no falling part, he's a master ice skater (no kidding...but it does help if you grew up down the street from an outdoor ice rink), but it's true! After skating we went to Libbey's house for hot chocolate and lots and lots of gabbing. It was so fun to hang with some girls and jabber about girly things.Friday Pearl and I ventured to the library. It's been close to a month since our last visit. Don't worry, no late fees! I try to take Pearl every week in the hopes of teaching her to love learning but she just enjoys getting out of the house and trying to figure out the drinking fountain. While she soaks herself trying to get a drink, I scramble to throw our allotted 35 books into our library bag before Pearl runs out the door, falls off the step stool, or starts screaming. Most weeks the librarians keep a close eye on us, seeming to wait for us to break some rule and get thrown out, but this week Pearl charmed them by saying "hi" before proceeding with the normal routine of running around crazy. Seriously though, the library is the best part about Friday. I love reading stories to Pearl before bed, let's just hope it sinks in!I also made a major home purchase...new decorative pillows. I know real big, but it was for me. First of all, I can't ever make up my mind when it comes to home decor. Not to mention when I do find something I like I have to stop and think if Jeff will like it. All you women out there with husbands who care less about how the house looks, as long as they don't trip on any toys on the floor, enjoy it. My husband cares about EVERYTHING!!!! It's nice at times but really, what man cares about the pillows? Mine does! I've been wanting to find some pillows that add a splash of color to the living room for a long time and I found a great deal at TJ Maxx (along with some new $16 jeans). I think they help bring out our paint color, painting, and curtains beautifully. And according to Better Homes & Garden the quickest way to change your home's look is with new pillows. What do you think?Last but not least (and I'm sure other posts will follow), Pearl has decided to give potty training a try. Well sort of. She's figured out what the toilet is for...whoever thought they would let a kid watch them pee, certainly not me and now look. But she has yet to actually "go" in the toilet. She does get excited though and tries really hard. She figures if she farts in the toilet that counts. And not just any farts, fake ones that dads teach their kids. It's pretty funny to sit her down and then a few minutes later she makes a fart sound and laughs! Apparently Pearl is pretty impressive at this age - JEFF - and I'm hoping her enthusiasm to use the toilet continues. I'm taking any and all advice on how to make this a smooth process.

Lol!!! I think the pillows look great, and Pearl is just too cute with her book! I love it!

The first time I put Pearl on the toilet she had a real fart and I laughed so hard she started fake farting (that was all Pearl - Honest) I just help the situation by laughing each time because it is so funny to watch her try. Then she doesn't want to disappoint so she "farts" - it is super funny!!!
As for the pillows - they are ok.

Oh I am SO SO SO jealous that you and LIbbey were hanging out. Man, I wish I could just cruise on over for that! I love the pillows. Jeff can just deal with it if he doesn't like stuff! Ha! And as for potty training, just make sure you are consistent with whatever approach you try. That is the best advice I can offer! Miss you!

We love the library in our house, too. The librarians know us by sight (or sound more like it) and even noticed when Jos started school and i went in the day without him. Pearl looks so cute with her book and her spouty hair! Reading to the kiddies really DOES pay off in the long-run school-wise.

Love the pillows-I'm in the need for new ones too since I got slipcovers for my beastie-marked furniture. I'll have to check out TJ Maxx! It cracks me up how much Jeff seems to care about stuff...I guess you know how much he appreciates your efforts when he does like the result, right? Kit doesn't notice things unless I wave them in front of his nose and then it garners a nod. Hmmm...

You worry about your posts being long, my comments are always so run-on sorry. I just want to carry on a one-sided conversation, I guess.

Way to go on starting potty-training! It is a nice feeling when they are done with diapers. I have to laugh at the fake toots! I thought only little boys do stuff like that!

It sounds to me like your husband and my husband would get along. I often think others are lucky too that their husbands don't care. When we were engaged every time I picked something out for our wedding all I would hear from him is, "But that is not how I imagined my wedding would be." Really? You imagined your wedding? Do boys do that? And now I can't ever buy anything right for the house. I think it comes from his mom being an interior decorator. Oh well, at least they have an opinion!

Also, I love your 365 day project. That is such a fun idea!!!

That's great that Pearl is interested in the toilet. McKinley basically wants nothing to do with it. Once again, your daughter is out-shining mine!
