Do you get it now?

Happy Public Health Week! I know public health is hard to understand and that most of you probably don't really get what I do or why. But check out this 3 minute video and website and learn what public health is all about. Sorry I couldn't just post it on my blog, the site wasn't working. I tell ya, I love public health! I may not be the best example of eating right or exercising (or flossing my teeth) but I love, love, love that we can make a difference in our community and together we can become the healthiest nation in one generation! And if you think the U.S. is the healthiest nation, think again!

Sunday nap gone awry

After enjoying the beautiful sunshine at the park and nearly falling asleep eating lunch, Jeff decided it was time for Pearl to have a nap. Normally Jeff can get her to lay down with minimal crying but today she put up a bit of a fight so he tried laying down with her on the couch. The whole process was too funny to not capture so here's what happened over the next 20 minutes from Pearl's perspective.

Pretend snore. Sometimes you can trick yourself into falling asleep. It didn't work today.Squirm around.Pick dad's nose. That always feels good to have sharp, tiny fingernails jammed up your nostril.Pull at dad's lips to test whether he is really asleep yet.Start to make a run for it, dad's snoring! Just kidding, dad's awake. Pat dad's eyes and face and make him giggle. If he's giggling, there's a good possibility he won't tell you to lay back down and go to sleep. Seems logical. Look lovingly into dad's eyes as if you're about to cast a sleeping spell on him.Uh, where did dad go?Look around to make sure the coast is clear. (BTW, I just love, love, love this picture of Pearl and her messy piggytails!)Lay back down, dad's on the floor and can see every move you make.
Kick the blanket off, prop your feet up on the couch, and squirm around.
Still not comfy. Let's try hiding under the blanket and squealing! Dad, ironically, is now snoring on the floor.Hiding under the blanket didn't work, let's try putting it on our feet instead.Give up and cry for mom. Dad is still sound asleep. Finally, fall asleep next to mom. Mom suffers kinked neck and elbow pain from trying to watch General Conference while trying not to move. Everyone is happy.
