Mortified

Jeff was beyond mortified.

But I think Fern looks pretty darn cute in pink. Don't you?
It's just a phase after all.

I hope.

Disney on Ice - Toy Story 3

I took Pearl, my niece, and EZ to Disney on Ice this weekend. We went last year and I think we've created a new annual girls-only tradition. Only this year, we got smart and paid for parking instead of dealing with another train fiasco.

Pearl and Ruby have been counting down the days for weeks! It was getting a bit annoying to tell Pearl every morning that today was NOT Disney on Ice day. It's hard to be a kid. She was so excited when I picked her up from school today, shouting, "Yeahhhhh! It's Disney on Ice day!!!" The show was fun, but I'm embarrassed to say I feel asleep during it. I didn't get as good of seats as last year and it was more of a "story" instead of music scenes like last year so it didn't keep my undivided attention. Plus, I was feeling pretty crappy still from this 14+ day cold I've had and was super tired. Last year Pearl was totally mesmerized by the show but this year it was Ruby. She was so funny to watch. She would clap and scream and cheer after everything. And this time, Emily remembered ear plugs so we didn't have to listen to Ruby scream and cry about the noise being too loud.
Pearl just sat there with her giant tub of popcorn. Which was gone in about 15 minutes. I tried to get a decent picture of Pearl and I on our "girls date." I need something to look back on to remind me Pearl and I can do something together without fighting. I should have known better. Pearl was only interested in even remotely participating if I told her to pull a funny face.Emily and I almost made it out of that place without spending a dime. Almost. I had to buy Pearl a snack. And I really had to buy me a water with my coughing spells. We managed to convince those two we'd miss the show if we bought any toys or sno cones or crap they didn't need. But that argument didn't work once the show ended and we were leaving. I thought those two were going to have complete meltdowns if we didn't give in to all the adrenaline rush of seeing Toy Story paraphernalia everywhere. So between the $40 tickets, $9 in snacks, $3 for parking, I also forked over $10 for this crappy sno cone in a Jessie the cowgirl cup. Oh, and the $15 in pizza for dinner. With her prized possession in hand, Pearl happily answered my question if she had any fun with this innocent and yet very honest response, "Yeah, but I wouldn't have had any fun if you didn't buy me something."

Not exactly the words I was looking for after spending close to $75 for two hours of fun.
