Cookie monster

Can you guess how many cookies my chocolate chip cookie recipe makes?

I'll give you a little clue... it makes enough dough to spill out of my 4.5 qt. Kitchen Aid mixer. (I really need a bigger mixer)

Still not sure? Here's your final clue.

If you still have no idea how many cookies I made, no worries. They're all gone anyway!

Peaches and the Temple

We have temples all over Utah. You don't have to drive very far before feeling like "you're home" as a temple approaches in the distance.

And now we have one more to watch for on our way to Logan. What's sad though, is it took a visit from my sister-in-law "across the pond" to get us to go to the new Brigham City Temple open house. I honestly didn't know it was even going on until every good Mormon mom I know started posting pictures of their perfect children in front of the temple. Oops.

Luckily, we Mormons don't turn anyone away from a temple open house, even if you don't make reservations before showing up at the doors. Especially if you bring someone from outside of Utah with you.

I had high hopes that my family will experience some magical spiritual moment. Instead, Cole barely made it through the open house - it's a dang good thing there were cookies at the end to bribe him with - and my kids were more interested in the fountains than the temple. Oh well.

Every temple is unique. Brigham City is known for its peaches and I loved spying peaches and peach blossoms all throughout the temple and on the temple grounds. Paintings with peaches, wood inlays with peach blossoms, stain glass peach blossoms, engraved granite peach blossoms, and even peach trees planted on the corners of the grounds!

I love this picture with the American flag blowing at half-staff. We just so happened to go to the temple on September 11th. I thought it was a really appropriate and special way to commemorate 9/11.

My sweet, sometimes ridiculously chaotic eternal family.

Don't believe that Jeff is THAT big of fan???

Since I can't transport you all to the previous football games this season, to see, hear, smell, and taste Jeff's devotion to all things Aggie in person, I thought I'd leave you with one more picture to prove just how Aggie-crazed he really is.

(And to show my unwavering devotion to him, for letting him drop several hundred bucks on this pre-Christmas gift to himself)

That's a genuine piece of the Spectrum floor. With signatures from every Aggie basketball coach to have coached on it. Sorry, babe. I'm not that devoted 'cause I can't remember all of their names. It really is super cool. I told him if he repainted our bedroom, I'd hang that up on the wall myself.

Who could tell a grown man "no" when he looks that happy?

I hope our financial situation is a bit more fluid when they decide to completely gut the Spectrum and we end up with our actual seats! Although, I admit, if that happened, I'd be all for it. How awesome would that be to have your actual seats?!

Heaven help me if he ever buys a piece of Romney Stadium someday...

Long overdue

This post is long overdue.

Especially considering my chosen blog title is "True Aggies" with a Utah State logo background.

It's a travesty really. I should have stayed up half the night weeks ago to get these pictures up. Shame, shame, shame.

Simply put though, in the "Battle of the Brothers" as it's known, the "Little Brother" kicked "Big Brother's" padded rumps all the way back to Salt Lake. And we know it for a fact because we were stuck on post-victory traffic for three hours on the freeway next to the University of Utah team buses. And all those depressed fans in red. Ahhh... the sweet sights of football glory.

Pre-game partying. Pearl was almost more excited than Jeff about the game! The minute we got home from school she was begging to wear her cheerleader outfit.

Bring out the cowbells! Love it. Love the new logo. Love the new uniforms. Love the atmosphere. It was sweet, heavenly college football bliss. With about 30,000 screaming fans... packed to standing room only capacity. The sounds of angels, I'm telling ya.

Love my Aggie-crazed, slightly out-of-control, who may or may not use heckle and harass the officials and other team husband. I had to apologize to all of our new neighbors... apparently his devotion drove last year's neighbors to find new seats.

The game was AWESOME. Oh, I love winning. And winning big against a PAC-12 team who figured they could just waltz into Romney Stadium and win with their eyes closed. Wrong! Although the overtime 27-20 victory about killed me.... uh, too close for me. After two chances for the Utes to win with a field goal and then a nail bitter praying the Aggies don't pull, a well, an "Aggie" and lose in the last seconds, I was nervous wreck. But Jeff (and Grizz) never lost hope. They are devoted, true blue Aggies, no matter what.

And then those heavenly screaming angels stormed the field. Epic.
