Ready, set, crawl!

That's right, we have documented proof that Pearl can now crawl! Her teachers at daycare told me they saw her take a couple of crawls on Monday but when we got home she would have nothing to do with crawling so naturally Jeff and I didn't believe them. But on Tuesday we finally got her to move in an attempt to get the cell phone. I think she just liked us clapping and cheering for her and as you'll see in the video, she takes a break to clap for herself.

Today, Pearl was crawling all over the place - going from her toy basket to the door and back to mama. It's like it finally clicked that she can get from point A to point B and that it isn't as bad as she originally thought. She didn't even whine when we moved her toys around the living room to see if she would try to crawl to them. I can't believe my baby is growing up! It really is amazing how fast babies learn. In just a couple of days Pearl has picked up crawling so fast and I'm sure by next week, we will regret trying to get her to move on her own.

Video star

I'm trying to be a good parent by documenting Pearl's activities and some of the most fun we have with her is taking short video clips of her jabbering away or blowing raspberries at us so I thought you might enjoy them too!

The first video clip is of Pearl and my sister Kimmey (we lovingly call her Aunt Kimmery). It's a rare occasion that Kimmy decides to grace us with her presence (even though she lives with us) so Pearl took full advantage of someone new to play with. Kimmy taught her how to click her tongue but as you'll see, Pearl has moved on to bigger and more important sounds.

Next up, Pearl in just a diaper. Yikes, Pearl enjoys being as close to naked as possible (that's a trait she inherited from Jeff NOT me) but as house rule #2 states "We must wear pants at all times (or we get PEARLS)!" This night she was so talkative that we just had to get some pictures and video clips of her babbling. She likes to stand up on the chair and yell at her dad in the living room.

Ok, so uploading 3 video clips takes some time and it's getting late so this is it for tonight! This is Pearl watching herself watch the above video clips. Pretty funny! She loves the laptop and is always trying to help me work or do homework so it's only fitting that she loves watching herself.

My 1st Tooth!

That's right, Pearl has finally gotten her first tooth! It's the one on the bottom right and boy is it sharp (luckily I know this only because she's bitten my finger and NOT something else). Jeff first noticed it when he was giving Pearl a bath. He called me in and said "Did you know your daughter has a tooth?" Well did I feel like mom of the year, NO I didn't know.

Pearl is very shy about showing off her new fang though and after several rounds of pictures we have yet to document an actual tooth as proof of this big accomplishment. But we did get some cute pictures of Pearl playing in the bathtub after this discovery.

Let's give this blog thing a whirl!

Ok so I must admit I'm a little behind the technological times here and am just hoping I don't mess up our computer too much by giving this blog world a try. It's seems like a good way to keep everyone up to speed on the Johnson clan - well Pearl since she's the one everyone cares about. Plus it seems only fair since I check a few of my friends' blogs every few days to see what's new and get upset when there's no new updates. So, here we go!

Here's what Pearl has to say about this blog thing (she keeps climbing all over me and the laptop so I might as well let her post something...
