So much for the emergency evacuation procedures!
Totally random post but something sort of freaky happened at work today. I was busy working when I overheard someone in the cubicle next to me say we were supposed to evacuate the building. Huh??? It's not like our cubicles are soundproof but trying not to be the nosey neighbor next door, didn't jump out and shout WHAT? So... I stood up slowly, looked around, and saw everyone on my floor leaving. No evacuation alarm had gone off, no announcements over the intercom that something was amiss, what's going on? I ask our secretary who usually knows everything that's happening if she knew anything about evacuating and she said there was some chemical spill but hadn't heard if we were supposed to leave or not. Well at this point with no one left in sight, except the few of us who hadn't been told to leave by anyone official, decide to high tail it out of there. By this point I was starting to panic about Pearl and was out the door whether my boss said to leave or not. When I got to the first floor I could smell something really weird, sort of like chlorine. I found Pearl leaving with the rest of the kids and asked my sister if she knew what was going on (all while trying to convince Pearl that we weren't going home and I didn't have any gummy worms). Kimmy said they had been outside when the fire trucks got there and then wandered over to watch them, mostly to keep the kids entertained, but not really worried about anything because no alarm had gone off. Soon haz-mat showed up donning full protective gear and gas masks! Whatever floor the spill happened on, the fire fighters told everyone to get out NOW. A few of the parents with kids in the daycare went downstairs and told the daycare to get out. But like I said earlier, no one bothered to actually follow the emergency evacuation procedures and pull the alarm to alert the rest of us! What a freaking joke! We were so lucky this wasn't more serious! You'd think the health department would know what to do in event of a chemical spill by NOT endangering anyone's health and well being! Come to find out afterwards, there were still people sitting in conference rooms totally oblivious to what was going on! At least we capitalized on the little distraction today by getting a picture of the three of us... before we died!!! And Kimmy doesn't think we look alike!

That is very scary, but at least it was a real emergency instead of burned popcorn on the 2nd floor again. Too many memories of that...and does Kimmy work there too? I did not know that. Luckly Pearl.
Seriously if my house catches on fire I will probably first save my camera and then make everyone stand around while I take a picture and THEN we will evacuate. A blog needs to be updated with important things and a picture must also be there.
Glad you guys were ok. Scarrrry!
...all I have to say is that it's just because our hair was up. You are skinnier and tanner. End of story.
