Piggy toes

Found this picture on my phone. An apparent mishap playing games.

I hope I always remember how cute little toesies are.

Swimming lessons

I sure hope this little monster learns to float on his back for 10 seconds by himself soon or we'll be stuck in the red swim class forever!

It drives my mom bonkers

It drives my Mom absolutely bonkers when Jeff pulls his socks up to his knees. He says it's more comfortable that way but I think he does it to just bug her.

And now the 2nd generation of sock pullers is here. Like father, like son I guess. I hope my Mom laughs at this picture because I took it just for her.

Annihilation

In the battle of good vs. evil, there can only be one victor. Unfortunately for BYU, they, and I quote, "stink like poo" and have been annihilated on the battlefield.

Boys will be boys

Difference between boys and girls #3,548. Watering cans are for sissies. It's much more effective to shot the flowers with a double barreled mega soaker water gun.

Fiiz

Pearl and I thought a treat from Jeff's favorite soda shop would "brighten his day" and chase the grouchies from today's relentless heat away. Oh. And Pearl's drink you see was a delightful delicious slushy surprise.

Pearl's Art Camp

We sent Pearl to art camp this summer.

For two whole weeks!

The camp was sponsored by the Cache Valley Center for the Arts. The theme was earth and sky and it just happened to coincide with the British Invasion coming across the pond. So we decided to just leave her at Grandma's house to play with her "new" cousins for the entire two weeks. It was the longest she'd ever been away from home and when the weekend rolled around and we told her we weren't taking her home {it was our anniversary so we'd planned to leave her and Cole in Logan with my parents and then back to Jeff's parents for art camp week}, things got a little teary. I felt bad but more so that I felt bad that I just wanted an entire weekend with my husband and no kids. It was pretty heartbreaking though and I know Jeff felt really bad about leaving her.

But she survived.

My niece Ruby and Pearl's friend Gabby also went to art camp with her I work with Gabby's mom and Gabby's grandparents live in North Logan. That's how we found out about art camp in the first place, because Gabby goes every year.

Pearl wanted Jeff - and only Jeff - to come to their parent showcase on the last day. That's when I felt really bad but decided that if she was so adamant about it, that I better respect her wishes and stay home. She brought home several pottery works she's made and some paintings. I think she had a fun time and leaned some new techniques. They sang and did theater performances for the parents too.

Pearl has always been really creative and artsy - which might explain why her room is a complete mess all the time! We wanted to find something to help her improve on her talents and I'm guessing we'll be sending her back next summer.

Big booger

Tonight's events have totally solidified mine and Jeff's run for #ParentsoftheYear. About a month ago Cole got a bloody nose at school. No one knew what had happened and we couldn't see anything up his nose so we basically told him to quit being a diaper baby and toughen up.

Well, he's complained about a "big booger" in his nose off and on ever since. Tonight he reprimanded Pearl for not praying for "the big booger to come out." So I checked one more time and what did I see? A piece of rubber playground mulch! We tried and tried and tried to pull it out, blow it out, and push it out but finally gave in and took him to Instacare. One try by the doctor, zippo tears {ironic because you'd have tought we were killing the kid earlier}, and a giant bill later and here's the culprit.

Are these my kids?

The fact that my kids look forward to their dentist appointments makes me question whether I did in fact give birth to them.

Summer nights

Who likes going to bed in the summer anyway?

I mean, given the choice between going to bed or staying up three hours past your bedtime eating popcorn and watching Wreck It Ralph at the park, I'd pick the popcorn and movie too!

Water fight

I have little confidence that my one rule to not squirt mom will be followed... especially by my biggest child in the grey shirt.

Mom, it's OK!

"It's OK Mom. Me just drinking Gato-ade and me spill on the dog." Yeah, those are exactly the words I want to hear considering it looks like he also spilled red Gatorade all over his hands, chin, and shirt.

Practice, practice, practice

My poor sweet child unfortunately inherited her mother's inability to do anything that involves flipping one's body in the air. Pearl concentrates so hard on her tumbling and I can tell she is trying to do the perfect technique. After nearly a year, she is so close to doing a cartwheel. Which is more than I've ever been able to do.

Punch it out!

At least this time it wasn't me who knocked out Pearl's tooth.... right, Jeff?

Epic mom fail

Guess whose awesome mom forgot it was picture day today AND didn't feed their kid or husband breakfast? I suck.

Toothless grin

Pearl wasn't too happy when I told her I wanted a picture of her toothless grin.

1st grade program

Pearl had her first grade program today, which she has been very excited about. They got to show off some of the important life skills learned in school this year, like art, singing, buckling up, brushing their teeth, and math. It was fun until we lost Cole amongst the hundreds of proud parents, siblings, and students.

It's on to 2nd grade for our smarty, sassy pants!

April Fools

Since I will be gone tomorrow, Pearl decided to enlist Jeff's help and play her April Fool's Day joke on me tonight. It was pretty funny!

Team fights

"You Utah State me Jazz!"
"No! Me Jazz you Utah State!
"Nooooo!"
